Enabling kids to be their best selves through nutrition
Nutrition is vital for the mental and physical wellbeing of children. Kids for Healthy Food enables youth to be their best selves by spreading knowledge of nutrition, which can support a healthy lifestyle for years to come.
Nutritional education for children can help prevent chronic diseases, including metabolic syndrome, which affects 1 in 3 adults in America. Yet, this crucial service is lacking in American schools and public health systems. This project fills the gap by bringing nutrition education sessions to children grades K-5 in the San Mateo-Foster City school district.

Sessions from Kids For Healthy Food increase kids’ confidence in selecting healthy foods through an educational presentation and snack sorting activity. The presentation explains the biology of nutrition, deepening children’s understanding of the importance of nutrition for health and wellbeing. We also provide tips on sustaining a healthy lifestyle from day to day. Our enables kids to become driving forces behind their own healthy lifestyle, and to share nutritional knowledge with their communities. Find out more about our lesson plan!
“[The] presentation left a lasting impression, and it’s been great to hear students having more conversations about how to select foods to best nourish their bodies.”
